This article covers my picks for the best transfers into the Big Ten this year, presented through an All-Conference layout. Check out the previous All-Conference Transfer Team predictions below.

OFFENSE

Quarterback - Tanner Mordecai - Wisconsin

Tanner Mordecai was one of the more underrated quarterback prospects in the portal this cycle. It was a close battle between him and Hudson Card for this spot on the list, but ultimately, Mordecai has more experience and on-field production. In 2022, Mordecai threw for 3,524 yards and 33 touchdowns at SMU, including a spectacular performance against Houston, where he totaled 433 yards and 10 touchdowns. Mordecai is an excellent addition to the Badgers while Nick Evers develops.

Runningback - Sean Tyler - Minnesota

With Mohammed Ibrahim leaving for the NFL, Minnesota needed to bring in another talented rusher. They got exactly that in Sean Tyler. The former Western Michigan back tallied 1,027 rushing yards and seven touchdowns last season for the Broncos. I expect Tyler to be the starter for Minnesota come August, and I think he'll have a good year with the Golden Gophers.

Runningback - Christian Turner - Indiana

The next running back on the list is former Wake Forest Demon Deacon, Christian Turner. I don't think he'll be a top-tier back for the Hoosiers, but I believe he'll carve out a solid role in the backfield, as well as the return game, as he was a first-team All-American kick returner as a true freshman as Michigan. This is his last year of eligibility.

Wide Receiver - Dante Cephas - Penn State

Arguably Penn State's best pickup in the portal is Dante Cephas out of Kent State. Cephas hauled in 130 catches for 1,984 yards and 12 touchdowns over the past two years for the Golden Flashes. Cephas earned All-Mac honors in 2021 and 2022. He'll be a great addition to Penn State's wide receiver corps.

Wide Receiver - Kaden Prather - Maryland

Although he doesn't have much experience, Kaden Prather is an extremely talented addition through the portal for Maryland. The former West Virginia Mountaineer had a solid sophomore campaign, reeling in 52 catches for 501 yards and three touchdowns. Prather should have a big impact as a starter for Maryland this fall.

Wide Receiver - Elijah Spencer - Minnesota

Elijah Spencer was one of the most exciting receivers to watch at the Group-of-Five level in 2022. The former Charlotte 49er had just under 1000 yards and nine touchdowns last season. Although the level of competition isn't the same, he was still very impressive, and I expect him to be a big piece in Minnesota's pass game.

Tight End - Arik Gilbert - Nebraska

Nebraska will be the third stop for former LSU and Georgia tight end Arik Gilbert. Gilbert was rated as a five-star prospect in the 2020 recruiting class and was the number five player overall. He hasn't seen the field much, but he has all the intangibles needed to succeed at a high level. Big time pickup for Matt Rhule and Nebraska.

Offensive Line - LaDarius Henderson - Michigan

LaDarius Henderson has tons of Power-Five experience at the offensive line position. He's played all around the offensive line, but he has played guard for Arizona State over the past few seasons. This is a massive addition for Michigan, one that will keep their offensive line at the level that it has been.

Offensive Line - Drake Nugent - Michigan

Drake Nugent is another elite offensive lineman that brings a ton of experience to the table for Michigan. He played 822 snaps in 2022 for Stanford and only allowed four sacks. He will likely play center for the Wolverines this fall, and I fully expect him to be the starter.

Offensive Line - Jake Renfro - Wisconsin

Wisconsin didn't have the best year in 2022, largely due to their offensive struggles. The Badgers were ranked 91st in total offense last year. Luke Fickell is wasting no time in improving the offensive line, bringing in former Cincinnati center Jake Renfro. Renfro played 722 snaps in 2021, and I expect him to be a valuable piece in Wisconsin's offense.

Offensive Line - Myles Hinton - Michigan

Myles Hinton is yet another big pickup for Michigan along the offensive line. The former Stanford product looks to play tackle for the Wolverines in 2023. He has played 1,336 snaps over three seasons at Stanford and has only allowed six sacks and three QB hits. He should be a big contributor to Jim Harbaugh's offensive line unit this fall.

Offensive Line - Ben Scott - Nebraska

The Matt Rhule era has begun in Lincoln, Nebraska, and what better way to help kick it off than snagging an experienced starter from the Pac-12? Ben Scott played a total of 708 snaps for Arizona State in 2022 as a tackle. I expect Scott to start and provide some protection for either Casey Thompson or Jeff Sims.

DEFENSE

EDGE - Andre Carter - Indiana

Andre Carter had an incredible year with Army in 2021, tallying 15.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, as well as an interception. His production took a bit of a drop in 2022, but don't let that fool you. He is still an elite talent and a massive get for Indiana.

EDGE - Josaiah Stewart - Michigan

Although he doesn't have much experience, Josiah Stewart still has a lot of talent that can be further developed at Michigan. Stewart has racked up 16 sacks in two seasons at Coastal Carolina, and although I don't see him being put in a starting role right away, I think he'll provide some meaningful production off of the bench. We'll see how he develops, but as of right now, I think Stewart could end up being a monster player down the line.

Defensive Tackle - Tunmise Adeleye - Michigan State

We don't have much to go off of in terms of college production for Tunmise Adeleye, as he was a true freshman last year. However, the potential is there. He was rated as a top-40 player in the 2022 class (#9 DL). This is a big get for Michigan State, and even though I don't expect him to produce right away, I think that in the future, he'll be a very important piece on the defensive line alongside Bai Jobe.

Defensive Tackle - Marcus Burris Jr. - Indiana

Another Texas A&M defensive line transfer, Marcus Burris doesn't have much experience at the college level. However, just like Adeleye, he has a ton of potential. He could end up as the centerpiece of Indiana's defensive line unit down the line, but for now, it's a bit too early to tell.

Linebacker - Ernest Hausmann - Michigan

Although he is only a true sophomore, Ernest Hausmann might be the best defensive player on this list. Hausmann totaled 56 tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble for Nebraska in 2022. He brings a lot to the table for Michigan and could end up being an All-Conference type of player.

Linebacker - Nick Jackson - Iowa

Nick Jackson has tons of experience at the power-five level to bring to the table for Iowa. He tallied 104 tackles last year at Virginia, as well as five sacks and four deflections. He can truly be a "do it all" type of player for Iowa. Big get for the Hawkeyes' already elite defense.

Linebacker - Ryan Selig - Minnesota

Ryan Selig had a good season with Western Michigan last year, totaling 73 tackles, a forced fumble, and 1.5 sacks. He will be playing as a sixth-year senior, so he brings a ton of experience to the table, even if it is at the group-of-five level. I don't expect Selig to be a world-beater by any means, but I think he's a solid addition to the Minnesota defense.

Cornerback - Storm Duck - Penn State

Penn State needed another game-changing corner, and that's exactly what they got in North Carolina transfer Storm Duck. Duck has excellent ball skills, tallying 10 deflections and 3 interceptions last year with the Tarheels. He should be an immediate starter for the Nittany Lions, and one that will bring a lot to the table.

Cornerback - Davison Igbinosun - Ohio State

Although he was just a freshman, Davison Igbinosun showed a lot of potential in his first year at Ole Miss. He deflected five passes and made 36 tackles in 2022. He has plenty of eligibility left, and he could end up being an elite player for Ohio State in the future.

Safety - Ja'had Carter - Ohio State

Ja'had Carter is one of my favorite transfer portal additions to the Big 10 this year. The former Syracuse safety was a massive part of why their defense was at the level that it was at. He had three interceptions, as well as three deflections last year with the Orange, and quarterbacks rarely threw his way. He'll be an immediate starter, and one that I think could end up as an All-Conference type of player this season if things go well.

Safety - Avantae Williams - Maryland

Even though we didn't see much from Avantae Williams at Miami, I still think that he'll be a big part of Maryland's defense. Williams will be entering his third season, so it isn't make-or-break time yet, but he'll have some developing to do over the off-season if he wants to take the next step. Still, this is a good pickup for Maryland, who had one of the weaker secondaries in college football last season.
