Florida Gators head coach Billy Napier is coaching for his job this upcoming season after not finishing with a winning record in his two seasons with the Gators. Usually, when you’re in the hot seat, you make many changes, but Napier won’t be changing one of the biggest things about his coaching style.
The Gators kicked off their 2023 season with a promising record of 5-2, fueling hopes of a successful run to a bowl game. However, their momentum fizzled out, and they ended the season with a disappointing five-game losing streak. This upset many fans advocating for a change in the head coaching position, but Florida opted to retain Napier for another season.
College football analyst Josh Pate has traveled to many college football programs this spring, talking to teams, players, and coaches. He sat down with Billy Napier this week and asked if he would continue to call plays this season.
Napier stated he always has confidence in his system and feels it has been proven. He finished the season playing very well on offense, putting the team in the position to win, but it’s in my best decision to continue to call plays.
Napier also stated he is pleased with the input from the entire staff and is more focused on the things that matter. He will be able to focus on these things more, including playcalling.

Many Gator fans are unhappy about the decision that Billy Napier will continue to call plays, and some have taken to social media to express their feelings on the subject.
Putting the offense in a position to win? He’s joking right?

It seems like this year’s long season in Gainesville will continue, and if things don’t change, Napier will be looking for a new job this winter.
