Angels’ Anthony Rendon lands on 10-day injured list following hamstring injury
Jonathan Dyer-USA TODAY Sports

It seems Anthony Rendon just can’t catch a break. Just as when he was getting hot, the Los Angeles Angels third baseman suffered a hamstring injury in the game against the Cincinnati Reds. He has now found himself back on the injured list.

The 33-year did not start of the season strongly and went 0-for-19 in his first five games. However, since then he had turned around his campaign while going 20-for-56 with a .357 average which included three doubles and three RBIs in the past 14 games.

Unfortunately, he has now got injured again. During the first inning against the Reds, he would connect a drive to shortstop Elly De La Cruz. Though he did manage to beat out the throw, he pulled up his hamstring and was seen limping across the first base.

He was later placed on a 10-day injured list. This would see him miss some games again this year as he continues to deal with injuries during his time at the Angels. He would later claim that this latest setback has left him “frustrated“.

(I’m feeling) not too great. Frustration. Anger. Mad. Any of those adjectives you want to use... I was just starting to find holes. Like earlier in the season, I was barreling it and they were catching it. I think that’s the most frustrating part, I was getting into a groove and of course this happens. Anthony Rendon said as per Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com.

It is now unclear how long he will out. Medical scans on Monday will reveal the actual timeline about his absence. The Angels meanwhile, have called up veteran infielder Ehire Adrianza from the Triple-A to replace him.

Patrick Sandoval labels Anthony Rendon’s injury as “gut-wrenching”

Anthony Rendon‘s unfortunate hamstring injury has dampened the moods of everyone associated with the Los Angeles Angels. His teammate Patrick Sandoval later spoke about him and labeled this development as “gut-wrenching“.

The pitcher, who started the game in which Rendon got injured, claimed that the third baseman means a lot to the team and spoke on how he helps the team as a “leader“.

That guy means a lot to this team. To see him work his way back from all these injuries and the work ethic he has, the passion for the game that he has and the passion he has as a leader for this team and helping everyone here, it’s gut-wrenching.

Rendon’s injury record is not a good one. During the 2021 season, he managed to play just 58 games. This is so far, the highest number of matches he has played for the Angels in one season. In the 2022 and 2023 season, he only took part in 47 and 43 games respectively. This latest setback has once again led to many debating about his seven-year, $245 million contract.
