The New York Knicks are ready to reward Tom Terrific.

In an appearance Wednesday on FanDuel TV’s “Run It Back,” Shams Charania of The Athletic shared a notable (but perhaps not unexpected) update on Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau. Charania said the Knicks are looking to give Thibodeau a “long-term” contract extension. Additionally, it would not be surprising if the extension for Thibodeau approached $10 million annually, Charania added.

The 66-year-old Thibodeau has done an exemplary job ever since taking over as Knicks head coach in 2020. In his first season, he won NBA Coach of the Year after helping the team break a nearly decade-long playoff drought. This season, Thibodeau led the Knicks to a 50-win campaign and now has them just one win away from their first conference finals berth since 2000.

Thibodeau, who holds an overall record in New York of 175-143 (.550), still has one more year remaining on his current contract with the Knicks. But the team may be looking to reward Thibodeau sooner than later, especially with how much his players love him.
