The Phoenix Suns understand that they need to step up their game if they’re going to make a deep playoff run this year. The Minnesota Timberwolves overwhelmed them in Game 1, and the performance led to Anthony Edwards getting high praise from arguably the greatest player to lace them up.

However, the Suns understand they need more than just their superstar trio of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal to show up. Grayson Allen is one of the key players who must step up to help his team overcome a Timberwolves team driven to win their first playoff series in a while.

However, fans who watched Game 1 know that Allen had to hobble off the court as he suffered an ankle injury. While he played enough minutes to see the game through, his condition is the biggest source of concern for the team and its fans.

Allen dealing with an injury is problematic for the Suns because they need Allen to space the floor with his shooting. He led all players in the NBA in three-point shooting with his 46.1% clip in the regular season, making him a vital contributor to his team’s offensive game plan.

Phoenix Suns reveal Grayson Allen’s status for Game 2

According to ClutchPoints’ Joey Mistretta, the Phoenix Suns have listed Allen as questionable for Game 2 against the Timberwolves.

This doesn’t fully discount the former Duke Blue Devil out of the game, but his injury is serious enough that the Suns could consider benching him to prepare him for Game 3 at the Footprint Center.

Allen’s lack of shooting during the game was painfully obvious in the Suns’ 95-120 loss, as the team had to rely on Durant, Booker, and Beal to carry the brunt of the scoring load while being swarmed by Minnesota players.

If he doesn’t get to play in Game 2, the rest of the Suns roster must step up in his stead and sink more threes to make things easier for their stars and even out the series.
