Victor Wembanyama makes incredible NBA history in win over Thunder

On Thursday, first-year sensation Victor Wembanyama continued his incredible rookie campaign, posting an NBA first in a 132-118 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Going head-to-head against fellow Rookie of the Year contender Chet Holmgren, Wembanyama became the first player to record at least 25 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, five blocks and five three-pointers in a game.

Wembanyama finished with 28 points, going 9-of-17 from the field and 5-of-7 from beyond the arc, adding 13 rebounds, seven assists and five blocks.

Defensively, the Spurs phenom was a menace, rejecting Thunder point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander on consecutive possessions early in the game before another huge block on Holmgren late.

Wembanyama was also a terror on the offensive end down the stretch, posting six points, three rebounds, two assists and a block over the final six minutes of Thursday's contest, helping lead the Spurs on a 16-5 run.

After the win, Wembanyama grabbed the mic to address the home crowd, sharing his excitement over playing the team's first home game since Feb. 3 before leading a "Go, Spurs, Go" chant at the Frost Bank Center.

"I missed this [stuff] I love it," Wembanyama said. "I missed it. Enjoying the game, winning back from the road trip with more than 16,000 people that I love. The best feeling."

Wembanyama's big night only added to his recent hot stretch. Entering Thursday's contest against the Thunder, he was fresh off becoming the first player, rookie or otherwise, in NBA history to register five or more blocks and at least one three-pointer in three consecutive games.
