Travis Kelce's camp clarified that his relationship with singer-songwriter Taylor Swift isn't a public relations stunt.
In a feature with the New York Times, Kelce's managers, the Eanes brothers, revealed they wanted to turn the Kansas City Chiefs tight end into an uber celebrity. Although his romance with the 12-time Grammy winner helped, it wasn't part of their plan.
"People say to me, 'Man, it's been a crazy year,'" Aaron Eanes said, via Zach Schonbrun. "When I say, 'Actually, it's not that crazy,' people look at me funny. It's because it's easy when you have a plan. We're executing that plan."
Per Schonbrun, Kelce and the twin brothers met when he was at the University of Cincinnati and later formed a business partnership. In 2023, they helped Kelce book a hosting gig on "Saturday Night Live" and secure endorsement deals with State Farm, DirecTV, Pfizer and several other companies.
"We positioned Travis to be world famous," André Eanes said. "We didn't know how it would happen, or when it would happen, or what would help push that further along. But it's always been the thought in the back of our minds."
Don't be surprised if they keep raising the eight-time Pro Bowler's profile. Schonbrun noted they've received film scripts and are mulling game shows.
Kelce and the Chiefs (10-6) are in a solid position on the field. They clinched their eighth straight AFC West title in a 25-17 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 17. As of Tuesday, they're tied with the Buffalo Bills for the fourth-best Super Bowl odds (+950).
