Watch: Broncos surprise Dalton Risner with Walter Payton Man of the Year nomination

Denver Broncos offensive lineman Dalton Risner got an epic surprise when he found out that he was the team's Walter Payton Man of the Year nomination.

All 32 nominations were revealed on Tuesday morning. The group includes players from a variety of positions, including big names like Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys, Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs, Saquon Barkley of the New York Giants and Derrick Henry of the Tennessee Titans, along with guys who don't get as much fanfare, like Risner.

As mentioned in the surprise video, Risner grew up a Broncos fan. He attended Wiggins High School in Wiggins, Colo. The 27-year-old then played college football for Kansas St. from 2014 to 2018, racking up three First-Team All-Big 12 honors and was named an All-American in 2018.

Risner was selected by Denver in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft and played in 35 straight games to begin his career before missing two contests last season. He has started and played in all 12 of the team's games during the 2022 campaign and has been on the field for every one of the 793 offensive snaps while committing just two penalties.

The only Broncos player to ever win the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award was John Elway in 1992. Current Denver quarterback Russell Wilson won the award in 2020 during his time with the Seattle Seahawks.
