Andy Roddick believes Rafael Nadal to make it big during Roland Garros 2024 as he is ‘the master of under-promising and over-delivering’

Nadal has been in the spotlight since last month when he played in Barcelona. The 22-Grand Slam champion exited in the second round of the tournament in Barcelona, but that was as a result of months of not playing any competitive matches. He went on to play at the Madrid Open, doing better than many hoped.

He lost to Jiri Lehecka in the last fixture in Madrid but was given an outstanding ovation after the match. Post that Nadal revealed that he will play at the Italian Open in Rome but remained ambiguous about French Open participation.

Meanwhile, Andy Roddick has admitted that he is confident Rafa will play at the French Open, as he is going to hustle and bring his best effect in the tournament.

At the beginning of the tournament he said, ‘if I feel the way that I feel physically right now with confidence, not knowing what I have, I don’t know if I’ll play Roland Garros.’ I tend to not believe that. I think he’s the master of under promising and over delivering. During his form, we've talked about it in this show before, he will be going like first round of the Roland Garros like seventeen in a row. And I think he just works from a place of this could go wrong but I'm gonna hustle my way and make it and give my best effect. Andy Roddick said on the ‘Served’ podcast

Before Nadal reveals his participation in the Roland Garros, he will be hoping to do well at the Italian Open, which starts today. The French Open begins on May 26.

Rafael Nadal likely to face Daniil Medvedev in Rome quarterfinals tie

Rafael Nadal almost faced Daniil Medvedev at the Madrid Open quarterfinals but failed to beat his round of 16 opponent. However, he has the chance to meet the Russian, who is the defending champion of the Rome Masters tournament.

Nadal will begin his Rome campaign against a qualifier in the first round, but his big match will be in the second round. He will face a tough test against seventh seed Hubert Hurkacz and their first-ever meeting on the ATP tour.

Nadal will be entering the tournament on the back of 69 wins and 8 losses in Rome to help boost his confidence at the Foro Italico. He is a ten-time champion of the event and is in dire need of a good result that will propel him to play at the French Open.
